1993 – 2023
EV-112 EARTHLANDS 30TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION
Sunday, August 27th, 3:00 PM
UofWild, Petersham, MA
Listen to the Heart, Act for the Earth
On a cold January day in 1993, a group of committed educators, activists, and community oriented individuals gathered at the main lodge of North Quabbin Farm & Environmental Center to found the Earthlands community and establish a living and learning educational center.
The original vision came from founder Larry Buell while on a Quest for Vision retreat in 1964. Earthlands was founded on the principles of intentional Earth-base community, animal rights, and social and environmental justice initiatives.
To honor and acknowledge the important work of Earthlands, founding members, supporters, and program participants will come together on Sunday, August 27th in Petersham.
Sunday, August 27th Highlights of the afternoon schedule include:
- Opening Reception at 3 o’clock hosted by the present owners of Earthlands, UofWild, the Nipmucs, and the residents of the Whitney Place (formerly a community house of Earthlands);
- A sharing circle of acknowledgment, memories, and stories facilitated by original founding members;
- Keynote address “The Earthlands Adventure” by founding member Sky Otter Pfeiffer;
- Catered Dinner; and a
- Sacred fire circle of stories, drumming, music, and dancing.
Monday, August 28th
- Symposium on “Sacred Landscapes & Underground Chambers” with special guest Peter Champoux, author of Gaia Matrix
